Chris is an engineer who designs and builds with meticulous detail, and Clare brings the eye of fashion. Together they built a name for understated luxury in hand-finished brass, mouth-blown glass and artisan-cut stone, and the collection has gone on to light The Savoy, The Dorchester, St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and Chiltern Firehouse.

How It Was Made

CTO assembles every light to order. Curved strands in antique bronze or bronze carry shades of liquid cast glass, which CTO also calls veiled glass. The glass comes from Italian glass workshops, where liquid opal is combined with the pulegoso technique: molten glass is poured into a steel mould, shaped by hand and annealed slowly, which gives it a semi-translucent, misty surface.

The Finishes

Antique Bronze. Rich, deep tones with a natural patina.
