It is the tray Vallvé makes to sit under its Gloss Gold pieces, and it has the same glowing, glass-over-gold depth. Vallvé started in a rented São Paulo warehouse in 1962, when Catalan-born Josep Maria Sedó Vallvé began casting resin with metal, wood and acrylic on machines he built himself. His son Pedro Sedó took over in the 1990s, every piece is still made by hand, and Vallvé has won the Top of Mind Casa & Mercado award for bathroom boutiques since 2003.

Why You'll Love It

The gold sits inside the resin, so the tray glows rather than glitters. Each piece is made and finished by hand, so it has a weight and depth that molded plastic can't match. It is part of a full Vallvé collection, so you can build a matching vanity piece by piece. And it comes from a family company that has been making bathroom pieces in Brazil since 1962.

Made for Real Life

A vanity tray that gathers bottles, dispensers and small things into one place. A soft damp cloth with a drop of mild soap, then a dry microfiber cloth, keeps the resin bright. Skip scouring pads, bleach, acetone and solvents, and never put it in the dishwasher. Vallvé doesn't publish care instructions, so this is our advice.

Worth Every Penny

Used every day for five years, $373 works out to about $0.20 a day (our math), for a hand-finished piece made to be used every day.

Product Details

Maker

Vallvé (São Paulo, Brazil)

Collection

Square

Object

Tray

Colorway

Gold / Clear

Surface

Polished

Made of

Crystal-clear resin, gold painted on the inside

Size

30.5 × 30.5 × 5.1 cm / 12 × 12 × 2 in

Where it goes

Countertop

Shipping weight

Not published by the distributor

Country of manufacture

Brazil (handmade, per Vallvé)

Care

Wipe clean by hand (our advice)

Vallvé item no.
