The light head still follows the “hammer head” shape of the original, the stem is chromed and the base is lacquered metal. The reflector is adjustable, so the compact lamp still puts its light exactly where you want it. The new palette of black, scarlet red and blue gives it a bold accent for modern rooms.

The Story

The first Spider was designed by Joe Colombo in 1965 and won the Compasso d’Oro in 1967. Oluce re-engineered it as the Mini Spider in 2025, keeping the balance and details of the original in a smaller table version. The full-size Spider table and floor lamps are still part of the Oluce collection.

The Designers

Joe Colombo (1930 to 1971) was one of the major Italian designers of the postwar years and died at 41.
