It stands 7.6 inches tall and 5 inches across at the base, charges over USB-C and has a touch dimmer for three light levels.

The collar comes in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass, Bronze or Polished Nickel. Where Caspe 8 uses crystal, this version is carved from alabaster, so the light takes on the warm, cloudy tones of the stone.

The Design Story

Designer Sean Lavin. Photo from Visual Comfort.

Sean Lavin designs lighting by working with light, form and material, drawing on art, architecture, travel and technology. In the Caspe family he pairs a single natural material with a hand-finished metal band and keeps everything else out of the way. In the alabaster versions the stone is the whole show: a soft cone whose veins of cream and caramel become visible when it is lit from inside.

Why You'll Love It

Alabaster is translucent, so this lamp reads as a sculpture in daylight and as a lantern at night. With no cord to route, it can sit on a console, a bedside table or a bookshelf, and it can be stood either way up, with the collar on top or at the base. The integrated LED is warm at 2700K with 90 CRI and delivers 87 lumens, an ambient glow for atmosphere rather than for reading. A touch on the lamp steps through the brightness settings.

Built to Be Handled

The lamp is made of brass and alabaster and weighs 9 lbs, so it sits firmly where you put it. Because alabaster is a natural stone, the veining, color and cloudiness differ from piece to piece, and the one you receive will not match the photographs exactly. It is ETL listed and rated for indoor, dry locations only. Visual Comfort backs it with a one-year warranty.

Product Details

Designer

Sean Lavin

Brand / collection

Visual Comfort, Modern Collection, Caspe series

Finishes

Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass, Bronze, Polished Nickel

Dimensions

Width 5 in, depth 5 in, height 7.6 in

Weight

9 lbs

Material

Brass and alabaster

Light source

Integrated dedicated LED module, 1 light

Color temperature / CRI

2700K warm white, 90 CRI

Output

87 delivered lumens (Visual Comfort spec sheet)

Wattage

7.6 W maximum, 2.4 W on high, 0.6 W on low

Dimming

Integrated 3-step touch dimmer

Battery

Rechargeable lithium battery (3.8V, 7000 mAh), not replaceable; about 5 hours to fully charge

Charging

USB-C, 72 in cord supplied

LED life

50,000 hours (L70)

Rating

ETL listed, indoor use, dry location

Warranty

1 year

Item numbers

SLTB66727HABALB (Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass), SLTB66727BZALB (Bronze), SLTB66727PNALB (Polished Nickel)

Dimensions diagram, drawn from the Visual Comfort spec sheet.

Where It Shines

On a console, a bedside table, a bookshelf or a dining table, or anywhere indoors you want a soft, movable glow without running a cord.
