It stands 6.6 inches tall and 4.8 inches across, charges over USB-C and has a touch dimmer for three light levels.

The collar comes in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass, Bronze or Polished Nickel, and the alabaster diffuser can face up or down.

The Design Story

Designer Sean Lavin. Photo from Visual Comfort.

Sean Lavin designs lighting by working with light, form and material, drawing on art, architecture, travel and technology. Caspe is described by Visual Comfort as having the aesthetic of a modern art object, with a minimalist form that sets classic materials side by side. In this version the material is alabaster, a soft, translucent stone that has been carved into lamps and lanterns for centuries. Here it is shaped into a clean cylinder and capped with a plain metal collar, so the stone and its veining do all the decorating.

Why You'll Love It

Alabaster does something glass cannot: it turns the light into a glowing, cloud-like warmth, with the veins showing darker against the lit stone. Caspe Alabaster 7 delivers 119 lumens at 2700K and 90 CRI, a little brighter than the crystal Caspe 7, and the touch dimmer lets you step through the brightness. With no cord to route, it works on a bookshelf, side table, nightstand or desk, and you can flip it to show the alabaster on top or the metal collar on top.

Built to Be Handled

The lamp is made of brass and alabaster and weighs 9 lbs, so it sits firmly on a table. It is ETL listed and rated for indoor, dry locations only. Visual Comfort backs it with a one-year warranty. Alabaster is a natural stone, so the veining on your lamp will be its own, and the stone should be handled with care.

Product Details

Designer

Sean Lavin

Brand / collection

Visual Comfort, Modern Collection, Caspe series

Finishes

Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass, Bronze, Polished Nickel

Dimensions

Width 4.8 in, depth 4.8 in, height 6.6 in

Weight

9 lbs

Material

Brass and alabaster

Light source

Integrated dedicated LED module, 1 light

Color temperature / CRI

2700K warm white, 90 CRI

Output

119 delivered lumens (Visual Comfort spec sheet)

Wattage

8.1 W maximum, 2.4 W on high, 0.6 W on low

Dimming

Integrated 3-step touch dimmer

Battery

Rechargeable lithium battery (3.8V, 7000 mAh), not replaceable;
